How to do multiplication algorithm

Multiply the two ones places.Do 5x4=40 put the 0 at the Bottom of the ones place and put the 4 on top of the tens place.You will use the 4 when you multiply 5x0.

Multiply 5x0=0 then you add the 4 and you get 4.Then you put the 4 at the bottom of the tens place beside the 0.After you add the 4 X it out so you don't get confused.

Multiply 5x1=5 and put the 5 next to the 4.

Add a 0 below the 0 in the ones place under 540.Multiply 5x8=40 put the 0 next to the 0 in the ones place.Then put the 4 on top of the tens place.

Multiply 5x0=0 then you add the 4 on the tens place.then you put the 4 be side the 0 then you X out the 4 on top of the tens place.

Multiply 5x1=5 then you put the 5 next to the 4.

Then you add 540+5400 but you do them 1 by 1. First you add 0+0=0 then you put 0 at the bottom of the ones place.

Then you add 4+0=4 and you put the 4 by the 0.

Then you add 5+4=9 then you put the 9 by the 4.

You add 5+0=5 and put the 5 next to the 9 and you got the product of 5940 .
