How to do a katniss braid (dutch braid)

Brush your hair so there are no knots.

Take about this much hair from above your left ear.

Start braiding. Remember, this is a Dutch braid, so you put the pieces of hair UNDER each other, rather than over each other like you do for a French braid.

As you braid, add in extra sections of hair like you do for a French braid. Make sure you put the pieces UNDER each other!

Keep braiding! Try to make your braid go in a diagonal line across the head.

When you reach the nape of the neck, combine the braid with the hair that has been left unbraided. If that doesn't make any sense, look at the picture.

Once you have done the tricky combining bit, you do a regular braid. This time, put the pieces OVER each other! If you continue reverse braiding, it ends up really loose and messy.

Braid all the way to the ends and secure with a hair tie.

If it looks a bit messy (like mine did), add some bobby pins to make it neat.

Add more bobby pins if needed!
