How to cut a fresh pineapple
Sure, you can get pineapple in a can or plastic container. But there ain't nothing like the real thing, baby. The best flavor without all the added syrups and preservatives.

INGREDIENTS
Choose a pineapple that is yellowish all over (not reddish), smells like pineapple, and when you press on it gives a bit but is not spongy.
Grab a big sharp knife. First we cut off the top leaves.
Here's a better angle.
Stand it up and. . .
Start cutting down the sides.
Turn it and cut. Turn it and cut. Until all the side skin is gone.
Almost done. Use your knife to cut away some of those brown bits so you're left with pure pineapple.
Like this!
Now cut off the bottom.
By the way, you can also soak these skins in water to make a kind of pineapple-flavored water. Or you can just toss them out.
Now cut around the outer part of the pineapple into large slices like this.
Work around the pineapple core because that that is a tough fibrous piece you'll not want to eat (see it on the upper left of the picture).
Then slice those pieces however you want. Today I cut them into sticks to eat with jicama (see my other guide on that). There is nothing like fresh pineapple - so juicy and delicious! Enjoy!
