part 7: half double crochet. the last one of our basic stitches... if you master this one you're good to go on any pattern based beginner project you have in mind :)
half treble crochet (short: htrc) is a not very common stitch. it's height ranges between double and treble crochet and is about 2,5 times as high as a single crochet.
half treble crochet isn't very common. i use it for stuff where i have to go from double crochet to treble crochet and the difference looks to big. espesically flowers or other small things where...
... you have no space or need for a second row to even everything out. with this in mind... let's get started :)
again a foundation chain :) yarn around twice (like for the treble crochet) and insert your hook in the 4th chain.
you'll need to chain 23 if you want your work to be 20 stitches again. 20 for the stitches and 3 for the turning chain.
yarn around and pull through the chain.
4 loops on your hook. yarn around and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook.
now you have 3 loops left. yarn around and pull through ALL 3 of them.
that's your first half treble crochet!! yippie :) for the next one: yarn around twice and insert your hook in the next chain.
yarn around and pull through your chain. 4 loops on your hook.
yarn around and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook.
yarn around and pull through the 3 remaining loops at once. tadaaa... your second half double crochet!!! now finish your row :)
at the end of the row chain 3. (yarn around and pull through the loop on your hook... 3 times)
turn your work clockwise. yarn around twice and insert your hook in the top loops of the half treble crochet of your previous row.
yarn over and pull through the top loops. now you have 4 looos on your hook again.
yarn around and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook. you now have 3 loops left on your hook.
yarn around and pull through all 3 remaining loops on your hook. voila... you finished the first half treble crochet of your second row. let's finish the row :)
