How to crochet... part 6: treble crochet

aaaaand... part 6: treble crochet :) it had to come because it is a basic stitch.... and the second to last of my basic crochet stitch guides...

treble crochet (short: trc) adds about 3 times the height of a single crochet to your work. due the height of the stitch its looser than other stitches and creates little gasps in between the stitches

again we start with a foundation chain

if you want your work to be 20 stitches again you'll need to chain 24. 20 for the stitches and 4 for the turning chain.

we yarn around twice (!) for this stitch. and insert the hook in the 5th chain from your hook.

that's what you get. yarn around and pull trough the first loop (your chain)

you have 4 loops on your hook. yarn around and pull trough the first 2 loops

now you have 3 loops left. yarn around and pull trough the next 2 loops

you have 2 loops left. yarn around and pull trough your last 2 loops.

there you go! your first treble crochet!!!

again... yarn around twice. insert your hook in the next chain.

pull trough the chain and you'll have 4 loops on your hook. yarn around and pull trough the first 2

3 loops left. yarn around nd pull trough the next 2 loops on your hook.

2 loops left. yarn around and pull trough the last 2 loops on your hook.

tadaa :) you finished your 2nd treble crochet!! now finish your row.

at the end of your row you need to chain 4 for your turning chain. yarn around and pull trough the loop on your hook (4 times)

turn your work clockwise. yarn around twice and insert your hook through the top of the last treble crochet of your previous row.

yarn around and pull trough the first loop (the top of the previous treble crochet). you'll have 4 loops on your hook again. yarn around

ypull through the first 2 looos on your hook. you have 3 loops left on your hook. yarn around

pull through the next 2 loops on your hook. you have 2 loops left. yarn around.

pull trough your last 2 loops and you finished the first treble crochet of your second row!! :)

keep going till you reach the end of your row.

the tricky last one... :)

we were talking about the wonky looking edges in part 4 already. i usually chain only 3 for the turning because i crochet pretty tight therefore my stitches arn't as high as a chain 4...

every crocheter chrochets different. keep practicing... you'll find your very own technic soon :)
