STEPS
TOOLS
Every year I give these away as gifts. They are a huge hit among teachers, neighbors, friends and fellow church parishioners. Make a bunch to give away.... I never seem to have enough.
Gather supplies.
The portions that you use in each gift is completely up to you. These are guidelines only.
Cut a piece of cellophane to about 1.5' by 2'.
Line a large mug with the cellphone.
Break a 6" cinnamon stick in half and stand them up on opposite sides of the mug.
Add a clementine.
Add 1/2 cup of fresh cranberries.
Toss in a whole nutmeg.
Add a teaspoon of whole cloves.
Add a teaspoon of whole allspice.
Shake it up a bit to help it all settle into place.
Top with another clementine.
Pinch the cellphone closed and tie it with some decorative ribbon or wire garland. I'm using some wire garland this year.
Pull it out of the mug and start on the next one.
Label the packs which ever way you see fit.
Include instructions.
Now that your gifts are done, you MUST try it for yourself. Quarter an orange (or oranges/clementines). Place in a small pot.
Add cranberries, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice and nutmeg.
Cover with cold water.
Set on stove to the lowest setting. It will take about an hour for the water to heat up and the smells begin filling the house. Let simmer for 5-6 hours at a time
BE PATIENT! Setting to a higher temperature will cook the ingredients too quickly causing them to spoil. .
This mix will last for about 2 weeks. Refill with fresh water daily. My daughter will be handing theses out to her teachers with a fresh loaf of banana bread at school.
