I'm doing this on longer hair today :) but it works best with middle length hair and can even be done in shorter hair as well!

First, put some loose curls in it...

And take a little piece of hair from the side your bun so going to be on, and braid it ask and pin!

Now take a piece of hair from that same side....

Now take a piece of hair from that same side....

And start to twist it up in a circle :)

And pin like so!  (It doesn't look great to begin with, but don't get to technical yet... Just keep pinning up pieces!)

Once you've got about half the hair pinned up--especially with long hair-- you'll probably want to pull the bottom half into a loose bun with a pony tail :)

And pin it like you would a normal messy bun!
