How to create a french knot friendship band

Choose colours and how many you want up to 4 and tie off. Then pin down to something weighted. Take one thread LEFT, 2 threads in the MIDDLE (the core), and one thread to the RIGHT.

Take the LEFT thread and put it OVER the core threads and UNDER the RIGHT thread.

Now take the RIGHT thread, put it UNDER the core threads and through the LEFT thread.

Pull the LEFT and RIGHT threads until the reach the knot and pull tight. (Sometimes the core travels up too, don't worry just pull it straight again).

Now the LEFT thread goes UNDER the core threads and OVER the RIGHT thread.

Then the RIGHT thread goes OVER the core threads and THROUGH the LEFT thread.

Pull both LEFT and RIGHT threads up the core until it reaches your last knot and pull tight.

Keep repeating steps 1 to 7 until desired length is reached. Once finished just tie it off again and trim.

If you turn your work over you'll notice the colours are reversed on the other side. Please ask me anything you don't understand. HAPPY BRAIDING FRIENDS!
