How to create a fishtail

You can either do this fishtail from a ponytail (as in tying a ponytail THEN fishtailing) or without.

Separate hair into two equal pieces.

Take a small piece from the OUTSIDE of one section.

Cross it OVER the section you took it from and hold it on the INNER EDGE of the other section.

Like this.

Now take a similar sized piece from the other section.

Cross it OVER the section you took it from to the INNER EDGE of the other section.

Continue all the way down as far as you wish to go.

Secure with the elastic.

By the way, these steps would be exactly the same even without a hairband.
