Make a design. It's okay if you don't think you can draw: it's not about your artistry, it's about putting your ideas on paper. Try to imagine what your character is known for and go from there!
We spent 2 1/2 hours at Joann's going through fabrics and craft supplies. Clearly we got a little crazy and needed a time-out.
This is the actual wallpaper at 221B. Even though you can't see them, there's a spray painted happy face and bullet holes on the wall. Keep your theme in mind for material and embellishments!
Once you've got everything start cutting out your pattern pieces.
Lay out your pattern pieces onto the fabric. Be sure to pay attention to folds and which sides of the fabric to have out.
Check your original design to be sure you're putting the right pattern pieces onto the right fabrics that you've chosen.
Start cutting!
Organize your pieces according to the parts of the dress you'll be creating. Just follow the directions on the pattern.
Start sewing. This was our first time!

Time for seams.
Ironing seams isn't as easy as it looks!
Word of advice: take the time to separate and iron down the middle instead of folding over to one side. It won't look bulky underneath.

Press! Using a little water spray really "seamed" to help. (See what we did there?)
I know this has NOTHING to do with now ties, but they really ARE cool!

For accessories, she chose clip-on earrings, a necklace and bracelet. The address of the flat will the focus of the necklace. The bracelet has miniature items from her favorite episodes.
The earrings were fashioned based on the skull sitting on Sherlock's shelf.
