STEPS
TOOLS
I was inspired by these art pieces outside the cafe at the De Young Museum in San Francisco.
Here are a few more photos of their work.
This one includes a succulent in a small pot.
Gathering my own supplies- rocks seashells etc that I've collected at the tidepools.
One of my favorites because it's iridescent!
Spanish moss like this is a parasitic species to many trees (like oaks here in California). You'll find it hanging all over trees in open spaces and forests. Gather some for free!
You can get all sorts of clear glass vases and glasses and bowls from dollar stores. Fill the bottom with sand, pebbles, and stones. This is your base. You can buy or gather your own.
Next fill with moss and lichens that you've gathered off trees and the ground in wooded areas (or bought at a craft store or dollar store! It's all good).
Lastly, drop in seashells and succulents, and arrange them in the vase. The succulents will last for a very long time indoors with occasional misting or drops or water.
So easy to put together and so lovely!
