Spanish moss like this is a parasitic species to many trees (like oaks here in California). You'll find it hanging all over trees in open spaces and forests. Gather some for free!

You can get all sorts of clear glass vases and glasses and bowls from dollar stores.  Fill the bottom with sand, pebbles, and stones. This is your base.  You can buy or gather your own.

Next fill with moss and lichens that you've gathered off trees and the ground in wooded areas (or bought at a craft store or dollar store! It's all good).

Lastly, drop in seashells and succulents, and arrange them in the vase.  The succulents will last for a very long time indoors with occasional misting or drops or water.

  • feathers and/or dried flowers on stems
