Cook Uzbek Manti (Steamed Dumplings)
13
STEPS
TOOLS
Add egg and table salt to cold water (I use cold water so later I get soft dough)
Add flour
Mix all ingredients well enough
Knead dough for about 5-8 minutes
When dough ready leave it for 20-30 minutes and start to prepare meat filling
Cut meat in little pieces (higher fat preferred)
Diced onion
Check your dough and knead it once more so dough structure will be even more smooth
Optional diced potato (my kids love potatoes so I always add them)
Mixed all ingredients well, add black pepper and salt by your taste (can add some cumin but my kids don't like it)
Make few rolls out of your dough and cut in little pieces
Don't forget to fill the bottom of the steamer with 1/3 of water, bring it to boil. Grease the layers of the steamer disks with some oil (to prevent the dumplings from sticking)
Place ready dumplings to steam layers and stuck them on steamer. Bring to boil for 40 minutes
While dumplings being cooked you can prepare some easy tasty sauces. I use sour cream mixed with mayonnaise, add some crushed garlic, salt, dill and fresh coriander.
