Whip the egg whites, salt, cream of tartar, vanilla until soft peaks form. (Use a stand or hand mixer on high). While beating, add about a tablespoon of sugar at a time.

Sprinkle with the remaining strawberry powder and bake!  Preheated 200 degree oven for 2 hours. Then turn your oven off and dry for 2 hours. And what's that peeking out from the bottom?!?!  Well...

Why yes, that's chocolate. Good eye! After your meringues are dry, melt chocolate in a small bowl and evenly spread the back of the meringues. Place back on your sheet pan to set about 30 min.

Nothing left to do but enjoy! These do best when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
