Hey so I m gonna cook one of my grandmas favorite called paprikàs krumpli it's basically potatoes and meat. It's really good for both bigger events or for cheaper university cooking.
The ingredients are not too expensive I came out of $10 around but I d say you won't go over $20 for sure. The amount you wanna use from each ingredients are up to you I cook by my heart more soo yeah
Make sure tho the ingredients you use relatively the same portions as you ll see but depending on for how many you cooking you can use more from each or less. Now I talked enough let's get started!🍴
Leave the potato in cold water for a few minutes to make sure it washes off all the dirt
Put the whole washed tomato into hot water so it will be easier to take off the skin..
Remove the skin from garlic and onions and cut them into smaller pieces. Don't forget to wash them before and after!!!
This is the size you would probably want to cut them into but you probably already know that I just wanted to make sure everyone gets it.
After you take out the potato from the water remove its skin and wash them again carefully as this will be the base of your dinner.
This is the way I cut it, it's really up to you but make sure it has both smaller and bigger peices.
This something how when you finish off cutting them should look like, but again it depends on how much exactly are you making.
Put them back again for just cold clean water to make sure they are washed again, as y grandma always says "you can never have clean enough ingredients"
Now heat some oil up before you add anything into the pan, sorry I don't have the best supplies I live in a cheap place as I'm a university student in Toronto.
While the oil is heating up or before totally up to you cut the hot dog and sausages into smaller pieces again up to you what size but this is around optimal. Based on what I saw in my grandmas cookin
Once you can see the oil flying around the whole place means time to add only the onions first, make sure you don't add anything else yet.
Now this is the powder you would probably wanna look for in the store, this is a core ingredient so make sure you get it or at least something very similar .
While the onion cooks into this "golden yellow" color as master chiefs in my home would say, take out the tomato an take off its skin, the hot water should make it really easy that it was in before
Once your onions are the color like on the previous picture add the SAUSAGES, HOTDOGS, GARLIC & the POWDER (no potatoes, tomato yet) the powder how much... Really up to you I usually cook by my taste
Also while you mix the previous ingredients together add some water its really important as it will add the "sauce" to it. After a few mins when it looks all mixed up add the potatoes and the tomato.
Mix all these together very well switch the heat to some lower settings and put the cover on and chill out for 30-40 minutes. Make sure you check on it tho causally and mix it can also add salt/pepper
Tell Siri to set the timer because if you leave it for too long all your potatoes will just be gone Make sure again you mix it causally so it won't get stuck to the bottom. Also taste it sometimes
This something you would expect at the end I know it doesn't look the most amazing however as ppl who just passed by said smells good, and now at serving its time to get this grandma's fav food a look
And this shall be your pimpied up paprikàs krumpli with some sour cream on top and pickles on the side. I hope you will enjoy it. Again it's a cheaper still really traditional grandma's food.
Bon appetite or as in Hungary we d say " Jò ètvàgyat!" if you have any questions or any ideas how it could be improved et me know. Enjoy! 🍴
