How to cook panettone french toast
Christmas time wouldn't be the same without this Italian bread. I make it all year round

STEPS
TOOLS
Start with a beautiful loaf of Panettone bread. Panettone is a type of sweet bread loaf originally from Milan is usually prepared and enjoyed for Christmas and New Year in Italy. I use store bought.
Panettone has a long process that involves curing the dough. The proofing process takes days. It has candied orange, citron, lemon zest, and raisins. It has a cupola shape. Cut in slices.
Farm fresh eggs
I use milk but cream will work too.
Pure vanilla. No imitation vanilla here. Just the real deal!
Get the wet ingredients (2 eggs, vanilla, milk) together in a large enough bowl so the bread can fit one slice at a time.
Whisk the wet ingredients with a fork or whisk until well blended.
Add some butter to the frying pan set to medium temperature.
While you are waiting for the butter to melt, dip the sliced bread in the egg mixture. Make sure all sides are covered. Drip off excess egg mixture before putting the bread in the pan.
Place the bread in the pan and cook until golden brown on all sides.
Add more butter if needed
The smell is divine about now
Even the outer edge of the bread gets browned.
Sprinkle with a light coating of cinnamon sugar and let sugar caramelize.
You are now ready to plate your dish. Add some fresh fruit. Any fruit will do, but bananas are a great accompaniment with the dish.
After plating add a dash of cinnamon sugar and drizzle with maple syrup.
There you go. Enjoy your Panettone French Toast. Let me know what you think.
