Gather your supplies. I like my syrup salty, so i use 'Piratos'. But you can use just the type of licorice you like best.

Mix licorice and water in a saucepan with a thick bottom.

Let it simmer...

...while you are constantly stirs the pot.

Cook, stirring to licorice has melted completely. If it becomes too thick, add a little more water.

Done, and ready to serve over ice cream, or in cakes and desserts. It can also be used to make licorice almonds. Soon there will be a guide for that too.
