You will need: eggs, teaspoon of salt, dash of white vinegar, red food coloring. If your baby is a boy, you need an odd number of eggs. If it's a girl, even number. But don't forget to cook a spare!
Put eggs in cold water then boil under low heat with a pinch of salt & dash of vinegar, to strip the waxy coating from the egg. Do this for 25 - 30mins.
Once the eggs are hard boiled, immediately place each egg carefully into a bowl filled with red food colouring.
Carefully coat the eggs evenly with dye then allow as much dye to drain as possible.
Use a paper towel to soak up excess dye then transfer into a clean bowl for dye to dry.
And that's how you make Chinese Red Eggs to celebrate the birth of a new baby! Serve with sliced pickled ginger & roast pork :)
