Bring water to a boil.
Add eggs to the water. You are essentially steaming the eggs, not boiling them. They should not be submerged in the water.
Cover the pot and turn the heat down to medium high.
Depending on how you like your eggs done, set your time as follows:
For perfectly soft boiled: 5 min 30 sec
For slightly more firm: 6 min
- 1 1/2 inches of water in a pot
- 1 egg or more
