How to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number.

First find an improper fraction! (An improper Fraction is a fraction with a larger number as the numerator)

To make a mixed number you have to divide the numerator by the denominator.

Then you divide it!

Then your answer is the large number and your old denominator stays as the denominator and your remainder is your new numerator.

We are going to convert another improper faction into a mixed number! Our new fraction is 12/5.

And you have to divide it. 12 divided by 5.

We divided 12 by 5 and 5 can go into 12 two times and that is 10 so we did 12-10= 2.

And now we put the answer together and our mixed number is 2 2/5.
