I am assuming since you are on Snapguide, you should have some sort of Apple device. (most tips can be used for other non-Apple devices as well!)

I am from the States and my man is across the Atlantic in the UK. These are mostly tips to help coping with the distance. I hope this Snapguide helps you! :)

Please note: I'm not an expert! I made this guide as one to provide tips (advice that I found based off of experience)! If anyone has comments or tips of their own, please leave feedback! I'd love it!

Being in a LDR is hard. You don't have the conventional (not to mention easier) ways non-LDR couples do. It does help to hope to close the distance. Patience is a major key to this.

LDR calls for a lot of trust, honesty and love. Even when times get tough, do not forget why you guys love each other.

It is very important to exercise communication skills.

If either of you feel negative feelings, bring them up! Jealousy or suspicion can really damage the trust you need. Try (really try!) to be open with your partner.

Do not restrict your partner from doing things they love. Encourage their hobbies, let them hang out with their friends.

Do tell each other compliments. Tell each other what you want to do when you see each other. Do call as much as possibly (but not every single waking minute), write emails, write letters.

If possible, try and plan visits to each others' areas. Not only does it get you excited to see each other, planning things together make things really help conversations going.

Here is an app called Long Distance Relationship. It allows you to create a countdown for when you see your partner next. Here you can post pictures, connect via iMessage and FaceTime directly.

There are many ways of communication in a LDR. There are phone calls, texting, instant messaging, social networking, webcaming, emailing, mailing, FaceTiming (woo!) and many more! Here are some apps:

Don't mind the date/time. Here's what I mean though; your device has FaceTime and iMessage already. Use them!!!

Though this is not my text, here is an example through iMessage if you both have an Apple device.

Let's say you guys are limited on texts... Pinger allows unlimited texting as long as it is done within the US (and I think Canada).

Kik is a great app. It is also a texting app, however is it available in all countries and on most devices (including my non-iPhone phone [*gasps*]). And it's free.

Tango is like FaceTime in that you can use your phone camera to webcam. Tango can be used from your data plan (FaceTime uses wifi only) and it's also free. Also used by other phones and countries. :)

Also, there is Skype, which is really good. I don't recall why it's not loaded onto my iPod.

Talkatone runs through Googlephone. Allows free calling to most numbers.

Viber is another calling app, however, both of you must have the app. I believe it is available only in the Apple store. It is free and the sound quality is more decent than others I have tried.

Hypotheticals is fun. You can use this app to ask each other "would you rather..."-like questions. Fun if you are unsure what to take about. :)

TheIceBreak allows you text, answer questions (good for conversations and getting to know each other even more!) and share pics. It's fun because each task per day has points for happiness levels. :)

Pair is an app that allows the two of you to share special e-moments. You can draw together, send your location, share pics, text, e-thumbkiss, share events and reminders.
