TOOLS
I always use my fan to help cool things down before I start
Pop the hood and take the oil cap off, place the oil cap over the hood latch, so if you forget to put the cap back, you can't close the hood
Jack the car up on the drivers side, using a jack point, or using the frame rail
Always always always support the car with a jack stand, don't trust just a jack.
This car takes 6.8 quarts of synthetic oil. This car also takes a filter cartridge that you will need a filter wrench to take off
Under the car, remove the 14mm drain plug, with your oil catch under
Drain completely
Once drained, replace the plug, don't over tighten
Directly in front of the drain plug, you will see a removable panel that will reveal the oil filter
Use the wrench to remove. As soon as you crack it, oil will start to drain out, so have that oil catch handy
We are replacing the filter, this is what the dirty one looks like
If you are replacing the gaskets, follow the directions that come with the filter
When placing the new filter in, make sure it fits snug to the bottom. It is spring loaded so make sure it's in straight. You should be able to push the filter straight down
Take some oil and grease the gasket then replace the filter, then replace the cover
Add your oil (can't pour and take pics)
Once all done, start the car then check the oil.
To reset the warning, hold down the odometer button (on the left)
While holding the odometer button down, press the start button once, then while still holding, press start again to start the car
Will take 30-45 seconds but the warning will reset. You're all done
