How to change car oil

Gather all of your supplies. Oil, filter, wrench, and drain pan.

Locate and remove the oil cap on the side of the engine.

Locate the oil drain plug and the oil filter under the engine.

Loosen the plug with a wrench, then by hand. Before you remove the drain plug, make sure your drain pan is under it so that the oil will drain into the pan.

Remove the plug and let all of the old oil drain into the pan.

Remove the old oil filter.

Install the new filter.

Put the drain plug back in and tighten it with a wrench. Also make sure the oil filter is tight.

Add the new oil. A funnel is not necessary, but it helps to not spill the oil.

Replace the oil cap after all the oil is added.
