How to carve a pumpkin

Get your supplies ready. A bowl of sharp knife carving tools and paper towels are always helpful.

You can buy prepackaged carving tools like these from Target. This also comes with some patterns to choose from.

Here's a fun pattern that may not be too difficult.

Next, tape the picture to your pumpkin.

Cut a hole in the top of your pumpkin so you can scoop out the insides.

Scoop out the seeds with a tool from your kit or a large spoon.

Save the seeds.

These will make nice crispy pumpkin seeds when they're salted and baked.

Poke holes in the outline of your pattern. This step takes some time but it's well worth doing a good job.

Remove the pattern and use the small saws to cut out your image.

When you're finished, wipe your pumpkin clean.

Clean up any areas that aren't cut out well.

Add a tea light candle.

Enjoy your creation.
