Step 1. Gather your materials. You'll need a compass, a ruler, an eraser, a pencil, and a sheet of 1cm grid paper.
Step 3. Mark the centre of your circle with a little dot. This will come in handy later!
Step 5. Square the radius. Essentially what that means, is multiply the radius by itself. The product of squaring the radius, (in my example 16), is what you will do the next steps with.
Step 6. Multiply the squared radius by Pi. Pi, in other words, is 3.14. So, you will take your squared radius (16) and multiply it by Pi (3.14), the product will be the area of the circle!
Step 7. Once you calculate the area of the circle (3.14 multiplied by radius squared) remember to add the unit of measurement with a little two above, like shown. The 2 informs people that it is area.
