INGREDIENTS
It is a very simple recipe with few ingredients. Target: caramelized apples yet holding. & the sauce is thick and doesn't overflow when the tart is turned upside down. Here are step by step method

5 Granny Smith apples

Coarse salt 2 tsp

Peel, quarter and core 5 apples. Add salt mix and let stand to drain some of their liquid content

After 1/2 hr or more, wash the apples pat the dry

Dust the generously with corn starch. And let stand for few hours or the night before. This will serve 2 purposes. Absorb the extra liquid & later will help to thicken the sauce while tart is cooking.


Sugar 50g, butter 30 g

Make caramel with 50 g sugar


Once the caramel is done add the butter

Stir until you get a thick sauce

Add the apples. And coat them with caramel as much as possible. You will get some caramel lumps .. Don't worry they will melt and mix with the apple juice to make a wonderful caramel

Arrange in the frying pan

Tuck in the dough

Make few incisions. .. To let out steam from while baking

Bake for 25 mins

After 25 mins

Un mould. Serve warm with cream or ice cream
- 1.0 Short crust dough bought
- 5.0 Apples.. Grany smith
- 2.0tsp Coarse salt
- 6.0Tbsp Corn flour or more
- For the caramel
- 50.0g Brown sugar
- 30.0g Butter
