Gather ingredients.
Cake- In large saucepan bring water and cocoa to a boil. Remove from heat.
Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Add to cocoa mixture. Stir in sour cream until smooth.
Pour into greased 15 in. X 10 in. baking pan.
Bake at 350° for 10-25 mins.
Icing- In small sauce pan melt butter, add milk, and cocoa. Bring to boil. Remove from heat.
Whisk in Confectioner's sugar and vanilla until smooth.
Pour over warm cake. Cool completely on wire rack
Cut out a piece of delicious Texas sheet cake and enjoy!
