STEPS
INGREDIENTS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
To prepare your "wet" ingredients, measure out butter. Your butter should be room temperature.
Measure out a half cup shortening - I used Crisco's All-Vegetable Shortening. Adding this is the KEY to having soft chew cookies, it makes your pastries nice & tender!
Measure out the half cup shortening and add to your mixing bowl with your butter.
Beat the butter and shortening together.
Add 1 cup white granulated sugar to butter/shortening mixture.
Add 1/2 cup brown sugar next.
Beat together butter, shortening, and brown & white sugars.
After beating the butter and sugar mixture - this is what it should look like.
Add 2 eggs to the butter mixture.
Add 1 tbsp vanilla extract.
In a SEPARATE bowl, add 2 cups of all-purpose flour.
Add 1 tsp baking soda to the flour bowl.
Add 1/4 tsp salt to your flour mixture.
Whisk your dry ingredients together.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring between additions
Beat together.
Next take out your bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Add 2 cups (or desired amount) to your cookie dough.
Mix together well, and this is what your cookie dough should look like!
Spoon out the cookie dough tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on Parchment Paper on a cooke sheet.
This is roughly how it should look. This recipe makes 50 cookies.
Put in the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the outer edges are a golden brown or slightly underbaked. Turn off the oven, and allow the cookies to cool on the rack for 5 minutes.
Voila! Your soft chew cookies.
