Do some base stamping using your favorite mixed media safe ink.

Use a gel medium to add the tissue paper to the paper mache. I painted my book box with gesso first.

I added more stamping then coated this with clear gesso so the surface was ready to add color. (Sorry for the blurred shot.)

Add color and embellish.
