How to add fractions

First you look at the problem. 2/4 + 1/4.

Next, you add the numerators together. 1 + 2 = 3.

Now put the denominator under the answer. 3/4

If the numerator is bigger, like this, 6/4, Subtract 6 - 4 and equals it 2/4.

Now put a 1 on the left side of it so it's not an improper fraction. 1 2/4

Last but not least, simplify if you can. 1 1/2
